The post secondary education department counsels students, clients, staff and the general public. The department is responsible for liaising with schools, universities, colleges, human resources, elders, church, municipal and federal government, Indian affairs (www.ainc-inac.gc.ca/ps/edu.index_e.html ), student finance and Alberta apprenticeship among others with the goal of ensuring student success, retention and support.
The Post-Secondary Education Program helps Status Indians and Inuit students attending recognized post-secondary education programs with their tuition fees and the cost of books. When applicable, the program also provides a travel and living allowance.

The Post-Secondary Education Program has two components.
- The Post-Secondary Student Support Program provides education and skill development opportunities at the post-secondary level to eligible First Nations and Inuit students.

- The Indian Studies Support Program funds First Nation education organizations, post-secondary institutions and other eligible Canadian post-secondary institutions to develop and deliver special programs for students who are registered as Indians.
