    Overview

Cold Lake First Nations has produced some of the finest canvas artists, musicians and actors in Canada. Artist, Alex Janvier is a member of the Native Group of Seven with his works sold worldwide and featured on the ceiling of the National Museum of Man. (we affectionately call him, Alexangelo) He has a home studio where he paints as well as a gallery in Cold Lake North which is operated by his wife and partner, Jacquiline. Please feel free to check out Alex’s work at alexjanvier.com or call 780-639-4545. Other canvas artists who will be featured shortly in this section of the website are: Robert Muskego, Larry Muskego, Brian Grandbois and Claudette Machatis.

Jimmy Herman is an famous actor from the Cold Lake First Nations and has been featured in such films as Dances With Wolves, North of 60, and most recently, Hank Williams First Nation.

Cold Lake First Nations has also produced several fine musicians. Singer/Songwriter, Thomas Piche has performed for audiences from Fort McPherson, NWT to Santa Cruz, California and points in between. You may listen to a sample of Thomas’ music in this section of the website coming very soon. Other fine musicians include the brother and sister team of Marlene Janvier and Ivan Janvier. Their music is featured each summer at the Cold Lake First Nations Annual Treaty Day Celebration from July 14 to 16, 2006 in English Bay. Everyone is welcome to share in our cultural events.
