    Overview

    The Chief & Council are elected officials who serve a three year term. Cold Lake First Nations elections are governed by its own Band Custom Election Law. Chief & Council are directly accountable to the band membership for the success of the Cold Lake First Nations in carrying out the mission and vision and for the conduct of its affairs. They must do so by meeting their legal and ethical obligations when carrying out their duties. They act as a policy governing board, their authority is derived from the federal laws and regulations governing First Nations, the written bylaws of the Cold Lake First Nations and established policies and procedures. The Chief & Council provide overall leadership and direction to the Cold Lake First Nations. The mandate is to govern the operations, setting direction and overseeing the activities of the administration to ensure the programs and services are delivered to the band membership in a fair, equitable and efficient manner.
