    Funding

Funding is received from four departments (Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (DIAND), Health Canada, Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC)

    FUNDING AGREEMENTS:

    - Comprehensive Funding Agreements:

INAC – Indian and Northern Affairs Canada The department, through the Transfer Payments Directorate, develops and maintains key generic funding agreement models for use with First Nation communities which have not entered into their own self-government agreements.

These funding agreements require First Nations to adhere to a common set of accountability requirements which address areas of high risk through transparency, disclosure and redress policies and emphasize local accountability for local decision making.

    - Trust Accounts – Capital and Revenue:

DIAND – The Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development

In accordance with the provisions of the Indian Act, the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (DIAND) maintains two types of trust accounts. These accounts are for First Nations (capital and revenue accounts) as well as accounts for certain individual Indians (minors, mentally incompetents, deceased and adoptees' accounts).

    - Health Services:

The department administers funding as determined by Health Canada First Nations and Inuit Health programs through Health Canada Contribution Agreements.

    - Housing:

DIAND subsidizes the construction, repair and renovation of on-reserve housing for eligible families and individuals, in co-operation with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). DIAND and CMHC also provides funding for training, management, and technical assistance to First Nations.

The goal of the housing program is to establish and maintain a level and quality of family accommodation that meets National Building Code standards. The housing program is directly administered by individual First Nations. For more information see: http://www.ainc-inac.gc.ca

    - Human Resource and Employment

Human Resource and Employment funding is made available by Memorandum of Understanding between The Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations of Alberta and Travel Chiefs Ventures Inc.
