Update: February 6, 2018
The Commission has one last community meeting to be held at the Band Office on February 15, 2018, from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. As this is the final meeting, all band members are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts and opinions.
We recently distributed a survey that was aimed at seeking specific input on a number of key recommendations that have been regular discussion points at our public engagement sessions. We are currently compiling the information from completed surveys and we look forward to sharing the results with you soon. There is still time to provide your input and complete the survey! Please request a copy from Loretta Angnaluak (contact information provided below).
We are also in the process of drafting up recommendations for a new Election Law based on the valuable input that our community members have expressed at the public meetings. Once we have a draft of the recommendations, we will be taking this information, posting it, and completing home visits for more input with members.
It is important to note that this entire process has been guided by our people’s vision to see an Electoral Law that is free of discrimination and fully reflects the voices of our members. We thank all who have participated so far with their thoughts, views and ideas towards the new election law. We continuously welcome more thoughts and ideas.
