First Nation concerned about leaks at Imperial Oil’s Cold Lake operations

The Cold Lake First Nation is voicing concern after 1.2-million litres of heavy oil and produced water leaked from Imperial Oil’s Cold Lake in-situ operations this year in three separate incidents.

The most recent Imperial Oil leak in Cold Lake was at a well site last Monday, according to a news release on the company’s website.

Cold Lake First Nations Chief Bernice Martial said she’s concerned about the impact on the local environment.
