Cold Lake First Nations Treaty Days is a cherished annual celebration held at the breathtaking English Bay Treaty Grounds, honouring the historic Treaty 6 signed with the Crown. This family‑friendly event brings together members of the Cold Lake First Nations—comprising Dënesųłiné, Cree, Saulteaux and Sioux peoples—and community members from across Alberta in a joyful expression of cultural pride, unity, and respect for the land
Over a festive weekend, you can experience a lively blend of tradition and contemporary fun—starting with sacred pipe and fire ceremonies and the stirring Grand Entry, where Chief and council are officially sworn in and honoured with ceremonial blankets and headdresses . Cultural highlights include traditional drumming and dancing, hand games, canoe races, pipe ceremonies, and a community feast featuring bannock, tea, and a pancake breakfast
Take part in spirited competitions—like tug‑o‑war, lumberjack and strongman events—as well as talent showcases, kids’ activities and family games. Each day wraps up with a lively movie‑or‑live‑music performance under the stars and spectacular fireworks, making it a true celebration for all ages
Rooted in the shared history of Treaty 6 and guided by values of peace, harmony, and stewardship, Treaty Days is an opportunity to reconnect with heritage, strengthen community bonds, and celebrate our shared responsibilities as Treaty people
Join us this July (11–13, 2025) at English Bay to honour the past, celebrate the present, and build a future grounded in unity, culture, and respect.
Masi chok! (Thank you!)
