On August 15, 2013, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer shot and killed Daniel Charland, a Cold Lake First Nations (CLFN) member. The shooting occurred at the CLFN English Bay Reserve in the home of Daniel’s mother, Elise Charland, an elder of CLFN.
